BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha's Band & Orchestral Division recently partnered with the Disneyland® Resort for a Magical Music Sweepstakes and to produce a series of popular podcasts that feature music-making on Yamaha equipment at the resort.

Year of a Million Dreams
Watch and Win Magic Music Products from the Disneyland® Resort
Yamaha is the official supplier of musical instruments to the Disneyland® Resort, and the company's Band & Orchestral Division has spearheaded a number of Web initiatives, including production of two podcast episodes that were downloaded or viewed 7,835 times. Overall downloads of podcasts from the Band & Orchestral Division increased 20 percent during the promotion. In addition to an extensive mailing to thousands of educators, an e-mail campaign, website banner ads and other marketing initiatives, the sweepstakes also generated over 1.8 million audience impressions.

The winner of the sweepstakes' Grand Prize Package, Aaron Comeaux of Baton Rouge, La., entered on the Yamaha.com website. "I was looking for some Yamaha home audio and video equipment and I came across the sweepstakes link," said Comeaux. "This is the first thing we've ever won and my kids are really fired up about going."

The prize package, which makes a Disney dream come true during The Year of a Million Dreams celebration, includes a two-night stay at a Disneyland® Resort hotel, air and ground transportation, four 3-day Park Hopper® Tickets, a Yamaha instrument ($2,000 retail value), a four picture Disney PhotoPass, a meet and greet session with a Disneyland® musician and a VIP tour of the Disneyland® Resort.

One podcast episode featured interviews with directors, students and staff who participate in Disney Magic Music Days at the resort. This unique program gives students from across the country an opportunity to record Disney motion picture tracks in a professional recording studio with help from an experienced clinician. Directors receive a DVD recording of their session: They can also perform with their school ensembles at the Disneyland® Resort and enjoy a day of attractions and entertainment. Whether first-time guests or repeat participants, the Disney Magic Music Days program provides young musicians with inspirational musical tools, educational activities and everlasting memories.

A second podcast profiled four of the musicians who perform on Yamaha equipment at the Disneyland® Resort. This episode includes extensive interviews with Disneyland® cast members who share their musical journeys and stories of making music on Yamaha instruments at the resort.

Artists include Steve Seable, Technical Director at the state-of-the-art Hyperion Theatre inside Disney's California Adventure® Park; Michael Pollack, a Main Street, U.S.A. ragtime pianist; Dr. Ron McCurdy, Director, the Disneyland® Resort All American College Band presented by Yamaha; and members of the famous Disneyland® Band and Disneyland® Resort All American College Band presented by Yamaha.

"We heard from one of the musicians profiled that a visitor who heard the podcast came to Disneyland specifically to hear him play," said Kurt Witt, marketing manager, Wind Instruments, Band & Orchestral Division, Yamaha Corporation of America. "That shows the power of modern technology to communicate on a meaningful level with a motivated audience."

Yamaha is proud to be the instrument provider for the prestigious Disneyland® All American College Band. Comprised of 21 of the country's finest university-level music students, each musician earned his or her position after an extensive audition process. In addition to rigorous daily clinic and performance schedules, band members are offered educational seminars in the music industry, learning valuable skills such as Web site and resume building to help them realize their career aspirations.
