For Seventh Stunning Year, Yamaha's Disklavier Prevails As 'Dealer's Choice' Product Of The Year

BUENA PARK, Calif. — For an historic seventh consecutive year, the Yamaha Disklavier piano has taken top honors as "Product of the Year" in the Musical Merchandise Review (MMR) "Dealer's Choice" Awards. The remarkable performance-reproducing instrument finished ahead of 33 other products that received votes in the highly competitive category. Yamaha acoustic pianos were additionally awarded "Acoustic Piano Line of the Year" honors and the company's Clavinova models, P Series and CP Stage Series instruments were collectively named "Pro Digital Keyboard Line of the Year."

The awards are based on votes from musical products dealers throughout the country, who cast their ballots for the most outstanding instruments, equipment and accessories for 2007, as well as for the overall 2007 Product of the Year.

"Because the winners are selected by the dealers themselves, the 'Dealer's Choice' Awards are perhaps the most coveted in the musical products industry," states Terry Lewis, executive vice president, Music Marketing Group, Yamaha Corporation of America. "It's tremendously gratifying to know that Yamaha products continue to be regarded by dealers as the epitome of technology, value, design, innovation and quality. We sincerely appreciate their confidence and thank them for their votes."

Key Yamaha dealers point to the Disklavier's market-leading technology as the basis for its unprecedented winning streak. "Technology is critical to contemporary piano studies," says Jim Foster, owner of Foster Family Music in Bettendorf, Iowa. "Teachers and students alike benefit – and draw inspiration – from the Disklavier's playback, recording and archiving capabilities. Without question, the Disklavier's consistent success in this category is well-deserved."

Craig Gigax, of Meridian Music in Indianapolis, Indiana, concurs. "The Disklavier is so ahead of the curve technologically, that it's easy to get customers excited about it. This is not a 'me too' product – it defines the category."

In addition to the Disklavier, the Clavinova also continued an impressive winning streak in 2007. Introduced in 1983, the Clavinova has established itself as the most successful digital piano line in America, earning MMR's "Dealer's Choice" Awards a staggering 12 times. With its host of cutting-edge entertainment and educational applications, the instrument has had tremendous impact on professional and amateur musicians in countless applications and settings.

"Receiving the 12th MMR 'Dealer's Choice' Award for the Clavinova is a wonderful way to lead into the instrument's 25th anniversary of musical craftsmanship and technological innovation in 2008," says Lewis.

These Yamaha award-winning products will be saluted in the December 2007 issue of MMR, and awards will be presented to company executives during the upcoming Winter NAMM Show, to be held January 17-20, 2008 in Anaheim, California.
