New Yamaha Carriers for Snare Drummers and Multi-Tom Players

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, will preview new carriers for snare drummers and multi-tom players at Winter NAMM 2008. The RM-TVHMS carrier for SFZ and MTS snare drums and the RM-TVHBPT for 8200 Series Field-Corps multi-toms feature unparalleled May Compound Hinge™ technology that reduces the carrier to one-half its original size for easier transport and improved product protection.

The new models eliminate the use of J-rods; the snare carrier features Mono Posto technology and the multi-tom carrier features Bi Posto technology. All carriers provide a flexible structure with an individual contour fit designed to outline the player's upper and lower body. They also fold up, allowing for more convenient storage and transport.

"We've tested these products with several collegiate marching bands, and the feedback has been overwhelming," states Troy Wollwage, Percussion Marketing Manager. "By eliminating the J-rods, the drums have a much better fit on the player and offer an increased playing range of motion with the arms."

Ultra lightweight, comfortable and strong, each carrier has an aircraft aluminum May tubular structure that enables mounting brackets to slide, rotate and lock with ease, creating a wide range of adjustment possibilities to fit most players. The May Abdomen Plate is virtually free-floating and bears no torque weight from the drum. And, via the May Comfort Air System, the carriers feature a tailored, inflatable May adjustable back bar. Precision-bent magnesium shoulders provide optimum comfort by using one of the lightest weight materials without sacrificing durability.

"These carriers truly adapt to the size of each drummer," adds Wollwage. "Any time we can make the drum fit better on the body, players feel better and can concentrate more on the music rather than on carrying the drum."

The RM-TVHMS and the RM-YVHBPT will be available in Spring 2008.
