Founded in 1901, The Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band – also known as "The Pride" – is the student marching band for the University of Oklahoma Sooners. The Pride is one of six different musical bands that are part of the University of Oklahoma's highly regarded music program. More than one third of the members The Pride are involved in various academic programs, including the Honors College, the National Scholars Program and the President's Scholars.

"The Pride of Oklahoma is one of the best college ensembles in the country," said Kurt Witt, Marketing Manager, Yamaha Winds. "Yamaha is thrilled about the purchase and we're excited about building a long lasting relationship with the University of Oklahoma."

The purchase of the YSL-448GS trombones expands the relationship between Yamaha and The Pride of Oklahoma, which began with the purchase of YMP-204MS mellophones. The superb weight distribution of the YSL-448GS trombone makes it easier to hold, giving the players more comfort and support. The traditional Yamaha style semi-open wrap yields airflow throughout the F-attachment and a high-energy laser fuses the brass together for a virtually seamless bell which allows continuous even vibrations.

"We are very pleased with the sound and appearance of the new trombones," stated Brian Britt, director of The Pride of Oklahoma. "Our experience with Yamaha has been very positive and the quality of their instruments is always high."

In addition to football games, the band participates in many other events. On November 22, 2007, The Pride made its first trip to New York City to represent Oklahoma in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
