Yamaha Ships Disklavier DC2B Grand Piano, Giving Retail Customers A $10,000 Price Break

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Yamaha Pianos recently launched Disklavier DC2B, a computer-age player piano that offers a remarkable combination of features and value, will be on display at Winter NAMM 2008. A grand piano with its suggested retail price at $10,000 less than the DC2M4, the DC2B is poised to become a runaway success. Because the initial supply of DC2B units is tight, dealers are encouraged to promptly place their orders.

"With the creation of the DC2B, we've achieved a breakthrough in value while providing the digital and acoustic superiority consumers have come to expect from Yamaha Disklavier grand pianos," commented Bill Brandom, Disklavier marketing manager at Yamaha Corporation of America. "We've incorporated many of the best features found in our DC2M4 and added some new ones to the DC2B, which ultimately puts the Disklavier grand piano experience within the reach of a broader range of live music enthusiasts."

Yamaha spared no expense in the development of the DC2B. The piano itself is Yamaha's new C2 Conservatory Grand with Ivory keytops, and the DC2B's Disklavier system (also utilized in the popular DGC1B model) is essentially a full-function Mark III with expanded capabilities, but without a silent function featured on the DC2M4. The DC2B delivers the remarkable playability and sound quality of a Yamaha acoustic grand piano, while its on-board Disklavier unit allows any user to instantly become a music director.

The DC2B offers endless hours of live music enjoyment regardless of the user's musical abilities. Its powerfully simple interface makes the DC2B easy to use without even reading the owner's manual. But don't be fooled – the DC2B offers plenty of advanced capabilities including full-featured multi-track recording. For intimate dinners and other times when soft music is desired, the DC2B also features a background music playback mode, enabling it to play extremely softly. And for the ultimate, out-of-the-box experience, the DC2B arrives pre-loaded with 512 songs – more than 30 hours of music end users can enjoy immediately. With 64 megabytes of internal memory, the DC2B has 52 megabytes of space remaining for additional songs, enabling users to build music libraries spanning a diverse range of styles and genres to suit any occasion.

The DC2B includes CD playback capabilities and supports Yamaha's renowned PianoSoft Plus Audio technology, a CD-based software line that takes advantage of everything digital audio has to offer. Professionally recorded vocal and ensemble parts accompany the acoustic grand piano for breathtakingly engaging experiences. Listeners can kick back and enjoy a world-class performance by their favorite artists, any time.

The DC2B's SmartKey feature makes it easy to learn the piano without taking a single lesson. SmarkKey shows the user what note to play by partially depressing the next key in the melody. It prompts the Disklavier to wait and adjusts the speed to the user's comfort zone. Songs can be embellished with harmonies and arpeggios to make novices feel like pros.
