The Harmony Director is a 49-note tuning device ideal for use with high school and college level bands and choruses. It plays in pure temperament, which helps students develop a better understanding of how individual notes fit into a chord. The new HD-200 boasts one-button touch operations with an improved tone generator of 10 voices flute, oboe, clarinet, sax, organ, trumpet, horn, brass, string and piano.
According to the JIDPO evaluators, the HD-200 achieved the Good Design Award for its superior design, high level of problem solving, functionality and versatility. It is also the first-ever educational tool to win the highly coveted prize.
"It's extremely gratifying for the leaders in industrial design to recognize our work," says General Manager Jay Schreiber, Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division. "We pride ourselves on offering superior products and services to satisfy the diverse needs of musicians worldwide, and we're confident that educators will continue to receive our products with as much enthusiasm as the designers at JIDPO."
