Formed in 2006 with the desire to provide continuing education in indoor marching and ensembles, Knightfire is designed to enhance its members' participation in their traditional band programs. Located in Danville, Illinois, the ensemble is open to all interested individuals. During the summer, members work on fundamental skill development while performing in parades and exhibitions. During marching band season, members are encouraged to utilize Knightfire staff as tutors to reinforce their skills and performance materials for their current programs, as well as preparing for the upcoming winter competition season.

With a growing number of participants, a demanding performance schedule and increased visibility, Knightfire needed percussion equipment it could rely on. Band Director Gary Schumann felt that Yamaha was the right choice.

"The sound quality and durability of Yamaha percussion is unmatched by any other brand," says Schumann. "Its contribution to Knightfire members is undeniable."

"It is always encouraging to see new ensembles establish themselves in the community. This is a sign that the state of music education is strong and growing, and that more kids need an outlet for their musical talents," says Troy Wollwage, Yamaha Percussion Marketing Manager. "Gary and his staff are well on their way to becoming a solid organization that is not only sound musically but strong in community support, outreach and education."

In addition to football games, the band also leads pep rallies and a number of other events throughout Illinois. Additionally, Knightfire is a venturing post with the Boy Scouts of America, affording youths between the ages of 11 and 22 the opportunity to join its competitive units.
