In 1983, Yamaha introduced the Clavinova® YP-40 and since that time, the company has continually developed a multitude of leading-edge, ground-breaking features, created exclusive software specifically for the Clavinova line, won dozens of awards, and earned numerous industry accolades. At this year's NAMM show, the Clavinova will receive its 12th award for "Pro Digital Keyboard Line of the Year" from industry trade magazine MusicalMerchandiseReview (MMR).

Setting the standard for easy-to-play home digital pianos, the Yamaha Clavinova Series features a host of cutting-edge entertainment and educational applications, as well stunningly realistic instrumental voices and a natural keyboard touch. Influential professors at prominent universities have embraced the Clavinova for its exceptional tone and touch, and its long list of powerful features make it the ideal instrument for composition and performance.

"As we celebrate the Clavinova's 25th anniversary, it's gratifying to take stock of the tremendous impact the instrument has had on professional and amateur musicians in countless applications and settings," states Jim Levesque, Electronic Keyboard Marketing Manager, Yamaha Piano Division. "It's thrilling to consider the influence the Clavinova is sure to have over the next quarter of a century. The possibilities are limitless."

Over the last 14 years, the Clavinova has been the most successful digital piano line in America, earning MMR's "Dealer's Choice" Awards a staggering 12 times. Since Yamaha introduced the very first digital piano in the early 1980s, the Clavinova has repeatedly won honors and accolades from magazine editors, music dealers, consumers, performers and educators.

The MMR awards are based on votes from musical products dealers throughout the country who cast their ballots for the most outstanding instruments, equipment and accessories at the end of each calendar year.

"We're grateful—though not surprised—at the enthusiastic reception the Clavinova has received from the music industry, performing artists and customers alike," says Jim Levesque, Electronic Keyboard Marketing Manager, Yamaha Piano Division. "This chorus of acclaim proves that the Clavinova brand is synonymous with excellence."

The instrument's extraordinary succession of victories began in 1991, when it won "Best Piano Sound" and "Best Bang for the Buck." Those honors were repeated in 1992. It was then named "Keyboard Line of the Year" in 1993, 1995 and 1996. In 1997, the Clavinova won "Product of the Year" and in 1998 and 1999, "Digital Piano of the Year." In 2000, it was honored for a second time as "Product of the Year." In 2003, 2004, and 2005, the product was named "Home Digital Piano Line of the Year," "Pro Digital Piano Line of the Year" and "Digital Piano Line of the Year," respectively.

Continuing to push the boundaries of musical craftsmanship and technological innovation, the company recently introduced the new CVP400 Series.

"No question about it: the Yamaha CVP400 Series Clavinova Digital Pianos are the most exciting CVP Series ever," adds Levesque. "For the first time in the history of the digital piano, users can record fully orchestrated performances, with vocals, onto their USB thumb drives. These acoustically stellar performances can then be turned into CDs, using iTunes or Windows Media Player, and then easily shared with friends, in person, on disc, or over the Internet. And, for added convenience, the Clavinova CVP400 Series is the first with a built-in LAN port."

The CVP400 Series serves as the much anticipated follow up to the CVP300 Series, which offered Internet Direct Connection, song and lyric displays, floppy disk drive and Smart-Media slots, and the famous USA Edition upgrade.

The instrument's broad range of features also makes it ideally suited to a wide variety of performance, educational and worship venues. Christian singer and songwriter and 2007 American Idol Songwriting Competition Winner Scott Krippayne used the Clavinova to compose the winning song, "This Is My Now."
