![]() Frederic Chiu |
Chiu has toured extensively in Europe and the U.S with the Orchestre de Bretagne and Stefan Sanderling. He has played with the Hartford Symphony, Dayton Philharmonic, Kansas City Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony, BBC Concert Orchestra, Estonia National Symphony, and the China National Symphony. He has performed in some of the most prestigious halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic (Berlin), Kioi and Suntory Halls (Tokyo), Lincoln Center (New York) and the Kennedy Center (Washington, DC).
Passionately committed to challenging the boundaries of classical music, Chiu has created unusual collaborations with personalities outside of the classical world, such as his work with hip-hop artist Socalled in the Messiaen Remix Project. Through extensive concerts/lectures at schools, he has successfully brought classical music to places it is rarely heard. "Deeper Piano Studies," his innovative workshop program, brings together pianists from across the globe to study aspects of the instrument that are often left uncovered. Many prestigious music schools including Julliard School, New England Conservatory and Mannes College have invited him to present this unique program.
After spending twelve years in France, Chiu currently resides in the United States.
The recital will take place on the 3rd floor Piano Salon at Yamaha Artist Services, Inc., which is located at 689 Fifth Avenue, New York City (entrance is at 54th Street). Tickets are priced at $25 for the general public. Senior citizen and student discounts available with valid ID. For more information, please call (212) 339-9995 x0 or e-mail yasi@yamaha.com.
