Marching On: Yamaha Percussion Supports the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association
BUENA PARK, Calif. Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division is pleased to announce its new partnership with the Colorado-based Rocky Mountain Percussion Association (RMPA). 2008 will mark the first of many years to come that Yamaha will sponsor the organization, consistent with its mission of supporting music education activities at the local level.
Founded in 1991 by a dedicated group of percussion instructors, judges and educators who were concerned about the level of percussion training and performance in their area, RMPA is the governing body of the indoor percussion activity in the Rocky Mountain region. The organization sponsors a series of indoor percussion events, educational clinics and competitions during the winter and spring months.
"RMPA is truly helping to support music education activities at the local level. Without organizations such as this, there would be no outlet for the well over 1,500 music students who participate in the activity. The parents, teachers and instructors who have helped to build RMPA over the years should be very proud of what they have accomplished," says Troy Wollwage, Marketing Manager, Yamaha Percussion. "Yamaha is happy to be able to play a role in supporting music education in the Rocky Mountain area."
Since RMPA's first Percussion performance in 1993, the organization has provided competition and training for more than 7000 students, and has become one of the premier percussion organizations of its kind in the country. Their programs provide a motivational tool that can help turn non-percussionists and a typical drum section into a cohesive and entertaining ensemble. Starting this year, Yamaha will sponsor the percussion clinic held each November as well as the indoor competition each Spring. Additional support will be provided throughout the year.
