The Weight Is Over: Innovative A.I.R. Bass Guitar Series Expands
BUENA PARK, Calif. Yamaha Guitars premieres two new electric bass guitar models that incorporate the company's proprietary Alternative Internal Resonance (A.I.R.) technology, which provides the sonic properties of a heavier, traditional-style instrument without the weight.
The addictive and inspiring RBX5 A2 five-string and the RBX4 A2M short scale offer sleek modern aesthetics, comfortable neck profiles and plenty of bottom-end thump.
"Bass guitars tend to be especially heavy, but these A.I.R. basses sit very comfortably on the shoulder," said Dennis Webster, marketing manager, Yamaha Guitars, Pro Audio & Combo Division. "One hip feature is the colored LEDs around the controls, which get brighter or dimmer depending on the player's pickup and volume selection."

Previously featured on the acclaimed RGX A2 electric guitar and RBX4 A2 four-string bass, Alternative Internal Resonance (A.I.R.) is an exclusive Yamaha construction technique that consists of a lightweight resonant wood core sandwiched between two harder tone woods. Sound tubes that pass from the bridge through the body structure transmit string vibrations and create a more resonant sustain.
