World's Leading Young Musical Talent Vie At First-Ever 2008 E-Piano Junior Competition

At invitation-only screened auditions held throughout in New York, Vancouver, Moscow, Shanghai, Paris, Toronto and Los Angeles, applicants entered their digitally videotaped and recorded MIDI performances on Yamaha Disklavier pianos. These performances were then judged by a six-member screening panel at Yamaha Artist Services, Inc., in New York.
The extraordinary young pianistshailing from all over the worldwill begin their live performance rounds on Saturday, July 5th, 2008. The competition finals will be held on Friday, July 11th, 2008. At the semi-final round, which will take place on July 9th, nine performers will be critiqued based on their imagination, judgment and overall presentation of their programs. From there, five finalists will be chosen to perform in the final round on July 11th. The grand prize winner will be selected that day, and will receive an award and enjoy the opportunity to perform at the gala concert taking place that evening.
