Yamaha Drummer Propels "In the Heights"

NEW YORK CITY — Andres Patrick Forero provided the backbeats for "In the Heights," a Broadway musical depicting life in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. Written by first-timer Lin-Manuel Miranda, the play won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Forero effortlessly shifts gears on his hybrid Yamaha kit as the soundtrack bounces from merengue to pop to hip-hop to salsa. Nominated for multiple Grammy Awards, he has performed with musical giants, including Paquito D'Rivera, Max Roach, Ron Carter, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente and Celia Cruz.
