Unveiling a Musical Work of Art
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas Yamaha, the world's largest music instrument manufacturer, donated a unique musical work of art, the MODUS F11 digital piano, which was auctioned earlier this year at the 19th Annual "Culinary Evening with the California Winemasters," hosted by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
"Yamaha was proud to donate the first piano ever offered for auction at the event, which shattered previous fundraising benchmarks and secured more than $1.6 million for the Foundation's vital research and care centers," says Jim Levesque, Yamaha Electronic Keyboard Marketing Manager. "Given the importance of the cause, however, Yamaha provided not only a piano of superior quality, but also a one-of-a-kind work of art."
Business owner and auction winner John Durham, of Corpus Christi, Texas, along with his family, recently received the personalized piano at an unveiling event hosted by local Yamaha piano retailer, The Piano Gallery. Beyond the ability to play itself, the MODUS piano melds form and function with a sleek contemporary style and enables owners to personalize their instrument with a customized design on the piano's backplate.
The first product custom MODUS F11 to be produced for the United States, Durham's instrument features the tranquil painting, "Eighty Miles High," by Los Angeles Artist Andy Moses. "Music is a big influence on my work," states Moses. "It was nice to tie this [piece] back into something musical."
To create the stunning piece, Yamaha's art department created a digital rendering of the painting which was then laid out on a template of the piano's backplate, which was sent to Japan for production. "The art was printed on panels," notes Levesque, adding that "the complete process from design concept to finished product took roughly five months."
For over 50 years, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation remains committed to develop more therapies that will extend and enhance the lives of those with cystic fibrosis and ultimately to find a cure or control for CF.
