BUENA PARK, Calif. — Every year, the musical product industry trade organization known as NAMM sponsors a float at the Rose Parade held on New Year's Day in Pasadena, Calif.

This year, Yamaha's Band & Orchestral Division provided a full complement of instruments to the Music for All Honor Band, an ensemble representing high schools nationwide that performed a medley of Sesame Street musical numbers.

In addition, Yamaha's Pro Audio & Combo Division constructed a DXTREME III electronic drum kit, which helped keep the time as the band and the float made its way down the parade route.

With the drum throne bolted to the deck of the float, Jim Haler, product manager for Yamaha Drums, had to customize the sturdy new Hex Rack to fit in the space and hold the drums and cymbals.

"When I gave the kit a test drive through the PA, everyone was amazed at how great it sounded," said Haler.
