Yamaha Corporation of America Presents Day of Jazz Violin

LOS ANGELES, CA — Yamaha Corporation of America Presents Day of Jazz Violin.

Day of Jazz Violin Sunday, April 19th, 7PM PDT

Join Yamaha on Sunday, April 19th at 7:00pm PDT for its first ever live concert broadcast featuring five renowned jazz violinists. This outstanding event will feature Yamaha Artists Christian Howes, Mads Tolling, Charlie Bisharat, Lisa Haley and special guest Antonio Pontarelli; backed by an all-star rhythm section led by Russ Miller on drums.

This event will be broadcast from the Pasadena Jazz Institute LIVE to the web at www.yamaha.com/thehub. It is free and open to the public. Seating is limited to the first 150 people.

Artists will showcase original works using acoustic and electric violins. The concert will culminate with all artists playing on stage together for a very special finale.

Christian Howes

Mr. Howes has performed at the prestigious Newport, Toronto, and Tri-C jazz festivals. He is an associate professor of music at the Berklee College of Music and director of the Christian Howes Creative Strings Workshop.

Lisa Haley

GRAMMY®–nominated Lisa Haley is one of a kind! Her blend of Americana, Cajun and Zydeco music sets her apart. She tours in more than 20 countries, performing up to 150 days a year in concerts and festivals, film and TV, sharing her "Zydecosis".

Mads Tolling

The first violinist with the double GRAMMY®–winning Turtle Island Quartet, Mr. Tolling is also a soloist with bassist Stanley Clarke and is the leader of the Mads Tolling Quartet. He has appeared on the cover of Strings magazine.

Antonio Pontarelli

This award-winning rock violinist established national recognition by winning the Grand Champion title in NBC's America's Most Talented Kids. He has performed at the GRAMMY® awards and has appeared on The Tonight Show, CNN and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Charlie Bisharat

Mr. Bisharat is a GRAMMY®–winning violinist who can be heard on over 200 recordings ranging from jazz to movie soundtracks. He has toured extensively with Yanni and released the jazz improvisational book: Beyond Classical Violin.
