Abbey Simon
will perform a special concert benefiting
The Music for Youth Foundation, a community of musicians, corporate sponsors and the general public who are alarmed at the disappearance of music programs in the public schools, and who recognize the important role music plays in each student's development. The concert will take place on Tuesday, April 21 at 8:00 p.m. at Alice Tully Hall, Starr Theater at Lincoln Center, 1941 Broadway, New York City.
The program will include:
- Bach's Toccata in C minor
- Clementi's Sonata in F minor, Op. 14,
No. 3
- Beethoven's Sonata in E Flat, Op. 81a (Les Adieux)
- Ravel's Three Pieces from Miroirs
- Chopin's Two Waltzes
Over the past 50 years, Yamaha artist Abbey Simon has performed to critical acclaim in recitals and as soloist with major orchestras throughout the world. His recordings on Philips, EMI and the Vox Turnabout labels make him one of the most recorded classical artists of all time. His discography includes the complete repertory of Ravel, all the works for piano and orchestra by Rachmaninoff and Chopin, as well as a large number of solo works by Chopin and Schumann.

A native New Yorker, Mr. Simon began his training at the age of eleven at Philadelphia's Curtis Institute of Music with Joseph Hofmann. He has performed with numerous orchestras throughout Europe and the United States. His credits include The New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, The Boston Philharmonic, The San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The National Symphony Orchestra in Washington D.C., The Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra and The Buffalo Symphony Orchestra, among others.
In Europe, Mr. Simon has worked with the most prominent conductors in the music industry, including Sir John Barbirolli, Joseph Krips, Sir Malcolm Sargent, Walter Susskind, Colin Davis, Antal Dorati, Rafael Kubelik, George Szell, Wilhelm von Otterloo, Dean Dixon, Massimo Freccia, Eduard van Beinum, Carlo Maria Giulini, Seiji Ozawa, Zubin Mehta and Erich Leinsdorf.
