Right Foot, Left Foot, Chickenfoot

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Chickenfoot, the superband consisting of Van Halen alumni Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony plus guitar whiz Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, has slotted a series of May dates ranging from Seattle to Philadelphia. Referring to the engagements as "road test" shows, the band's brief North American run starts in Seattle at El Corazon on May 14.

East Coast road test dates place the band in Cambridge, Mass., at the Middle East Upstairs on May 26; The Fillmore in New York City on May 28 and Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia on May 29. The CD will be released by Best Buy in the U.S. on Sunday, June 7.

Chickenfoot came to life after a series of jams held at Hagar's club, Cabo Wabo Cantina, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. "I really wasn't looking to have a real band, but when I got involved with these guys, only a fool would say, 'No, I'm not going to do this,'" Hagar said. "The minute we started jamming it was obvious, like, 'This is something that needs to be heard.'"

Bassist Michael Anthony will be playing a number of BB414 and BB2024 basses with custom graphics prepared by the luthiers at Yamaha Artist Services Hollywood.
