Stevie Wonder Performs a Poignant Goodbye to Michael Jackson

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The world was watching on July 7, 2009 when family, friends, colleagues and fans gathered to remember Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. An estimated one billion people witnessed the biggest celebrity send-off of all time.

YCAA, Inc. was honored to provide a Yamaha C7S grand piano for Stevie Wonder's special performance of his ballad "Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer." Other performers at Michael Jackson's memorial included Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, John Mayer, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Jermaine Jackson and Usher.

Approximately 11,000 people were given tickets to the memorial service in the Staples Center, 6,500 fans were awarded tickets to watch the memorial from the Nokia Theater directly across the street, and police estimate that more than 1,000 people crammed onto the sidewalks outside the arena to pay their respects to the superstar. Watch parties gathered throughout the world in cities such as New York, Berlin and Sydney.
