BUENA PARK, Calif.—The Yamaha presence at Summer NAMM 2009 in Nashville was marked by a big award, new product launches and top-flight entertainment. "Winning the Best in Show Award for the new S90XS illustrates our unwavering dedication to quality and innovation, especially during these unique times," said Rick Young, Senior Vice President, Yamaha Corporation of America. "NAMM gives us a special opportunity to re-connect with our retail dealers and customers and we thought it was important to be there, to support NAMM's efforts."

Yamaha's Keyboard Division unveiled the new AvantGrand N2, the first upright piano to feature the touch and tone of a grand piano. Like its full-size cousin, the AvantGrand N3, also on display at NAMM and featured in Popular Science magazine, the category-defying N2 combines the qualities of an acoustic and a digital piano. The new PSR-S910 and PSR-S710 Arranger Workstations, which adapt feature sets from the flagship Tyros3, are perfect for pros and so-called "one-man-bands."

The guitar department also highlighted the new FJX730SC and FJX720SC acoustic-electric guitars, new jumbo body shapes that offer the same enduring features as the company's FG dreadnought models. In addition, the FJX730SC and FGX730SC now come with the A.R.T. pre-amp system.

Winners of the Best in Show award from Music Inc. magazine, the S90XS and S70SX synthesizers from Yamaha's Music Production department combine the sounds of the Motif XS music production synthesizer workstation, a new S6 acoustic grand piano sample and the ease of use of a stage piano, making them the perfect performance partners. The "XSpand Your World" DVD, which comes bundled with the Motif XS music production synthesizer workstation, includes four discs filled with information and sounds that help players and producers get the most out of their instrument.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary selling quality guitars in the United States this year, Yamaha Guitars served as the Official Presenting Sponsor of one of Summer NAMM 2009's most anticipated events, Muriel Anderson's All Star Guitar Night. Held at the historic Ryman Auditorium, home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1934 to 1974, the evening presented a range of exciting performers, including Yamaha Artist Don Alder. Muriel Anderson, along with the duo Strunz and Farah, played Yamaha's new NX Series nylon string acoustic-electric guitars. Ladd Smith and Adam Nitti also played Yamaha.
