Colin McNutt Marches into 2010 DCI Season with Yamaha

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha is happy to once again support Yamaha Percussion Artist Colin McNutt for another Drum Corps International (DCI) season. Mr. McNutt is currently the Percussion Caption Supervisor of the 9-time DCI World Champion Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps, and is a widely sought after clinician, arranger and educator. Mr. McNutt will also be teaching at several Yamaha sponsored percussion clinics in the coming months.

Mr. McNutt has instructed and arranged for the Star of Indiana Drum & Bugle Corps, as well as their popular stage production Blast!, which won the 2001 Tony® Award for “Best Theatrical Event” and the 2001 Emmy® Award for “Best Choreography.” Mr. McNutt also has written for and instructed several other perennially excellent Drum & Bugle Corps, including the Crossmen, Glassmen, Magic of Orlando, and Madison Scouts.

“There are number of young men and women out there who are just teaching a drumline, but Colin is one of the young guys that is doing so much more,” said Troy Wollwage, Marketing Manager for Yamaha Percussion, Band and Orchestral Division. “He is teaching music, teaching about life, is a composer, and an arranger. He truly is devoted to his craft and never stops learning. At Yamaha, we look for educators that can have a lasting impact on music education. Colin is one of those individuals.”

As an educator, Mr. McNutt has served on the faculty of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he is an alumnus, receiving degrees in Classics and Music Education. Mr. McNutt also takes part in many youth clinics across the country each year, including Yamaha’s Sounds of Summer program, where he offers in depth instruction to young percussionists.
