ATLANTA, GA Yamaha is proud to be the official instrument provider for the 2010-11 DRUMLine Live tour, bringing the popular and exciting stage show based on the Historically Black College and University Marching Band tradition to Japan, Korea and dozens of cities across the United States. Last year's inaugural tour was a rousing success, playing in 40 cities, and clearly demonstrated the international appeal of the historically Southeastern art form. DRUMLine Live will be exclusively using Yamaha Marching Percussion and Brass instruments.
The DRUMLine Live stage show was created after Musical Director Don Roberts was brought on as a band consultant for the 2002 movie "Drumline" starring Nick Cannon. Witnessing the immense talent on set for the film, he created a stage show called Halftime Live in 2005, recreating the energy and thrill of the southern marching band experience. After consulting with theatre professionals to fine-tune the performance and tailor it for the stage, DRUMLine Live was created.
"DRUMLine Live is truly privileged to have Yamaha as a partner," said Reggie Brayton, CEO and Producer of DRUMLine Live. "Yamaha's outstanding products and commitment to support music from the football field to the symphony hall offers our production unparalleled versatility and emancipates our creativity."
Yamaha has long been the preferred instrument manufacturer for many of the country's leading college marching bands, as well as many other similar musical activities including Drum & Bugle Corps and Indoor Percussion Ensembles. Yamaha also sponsors hundreds of educational events yearly, including Sounds of Summer, now in its 25th year, and events in coordination with Youth Education in the Arts (YEA!) and Music For All.
"We are honored to be a part of DRUMLine Live's continuing growth," said Roger Eaton, Director of Marketing, Yamaha Corporation of America, Band and Orchestral Division. "We look forward to an exciting, successful tour that supports our mutual interests of promoting musical experiences both on the concert stage, as well as in schools."
DRUMLine Live will be performing in Asia beginning in early August, and kicking off the United States leg of the tour in October.
