Yamaha Drums Provides Free Drum Lessons at Two Stops on The Vans Warped Tour

BUENA PARK, Calif.—Yamaha Drums teams up with the Percussion Marketing Council (PMC) to offer concertgoers free drum lessons on-site on two Vans Warped Tour (VWT) dates, July 1 in Pomona, Calif. and August 10 in Carson, Calif.

On July 1, Warped Tour attendees in Pomona took advantage of the opportunity to take free five-minute drum lessons from a professional drum instructor at the Yamaha-hosted PMC tent with the help of Jim’s Music. Whether the VWT students took lessons previously or they picked up sticks for the first time, they walked away from the session with a technique or method to practice at home – helping to create the next generation of drummers. On August 10, in Carson, Calif., Guitar Center employees will be on hand at Carson to assist with the promotion.

“Playing drums is fun,” said Dave Jewell, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums. “Once people get the basics, they’re more likely to pick up the sticks and start playing.  We are happy to be able to provide these music fans with their first hands-on drumming experience.”

After the drum lesson, students are eligible to enter a drawing to win a free Yamaha Stage Custom snare drum and other PMC-sponsored giveaways.

Formed in 1995, the non-profit PMC is the percussion industry's trade organization. Its members are drum and percussion manufacturers, suppliers and dealers with a mission to actively promote the many benefits of drumming to the general public.

Since 1994, the Vans Warped Tour has been one of the largest touring concert festivals in the country, featuring up to 100 bands on multiple stages.
