Yamaha Revamps Power-Lite Series

BUENA PARK, Calif.—Yamaha Corporation of America updates the popular Power-Lite Series of bass drums, snares and multi-toms for the first time since the late 1990's. Debuting at Winter NAMM 2012, the new 6300 Series now offers expanded options and advanced features at the same affordable price.

Replacing the 6200 Power-Lite Series, the 6300 Power-Lite Series is geared towards middle school children and youth community marching band programs, and features lighter-weight equipment to accommodate the average size and strength of children within that age group. Yamaha's updated series is easy to tune and uses ultra-durable, high-end materials to ensure a rich sound and more vivid musical expression.

"Yamaha continually seeks to improve its products and this series capitalizes on many of Yamaha's many impressive percussion innovations," says Troy Wollwage, Percussion Manager, Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division. "The 6300 Power-Lite Series builds on the solid foundation of the previous model to offer remarkable durability, strength and sound."

Ideal for musical situations requiring exceptional sound and lightweight design, the Power-Lite Series Bass Drums feature shallow depths, making them easy to carry. The 9-ply birch-ply shell is manufactured with Yamaha's exclusive Air-Seal system to help ensure a warm tone and includes sound impact strips to provide for improved sound clarity and ease of tuning. With sizes ranging from 16" – 28", all 6300 Power-Lite Series Bass Drums also come standard with white REMO Ambassador bass drumheads.

Offering traditional sound with simple operation, the Power-Lite marching snare drum now comes in two different sizes, 13x11(MS-6313) and 14x12 (MS-6314). The 9-ply birch-ply shell is complemented with 1.6mm, triple flange steel rims and zinc alloy lug casings with reinforced walls and webbing for superior strength, flexibility and portability. It also features Yamaha's Air Seal System for a pure, fundamental tone. The snare also features 20-strand, high-carbon steel wires for a crisp response and bright sound, as well as three protective feet and an ET carrier clip for easy, quick and secure attachment.

Available in multiple configurations, the 6300 Power-Lite Series Multi-Toms are modeled after the 8200 Field -Corps Series and uses the same high-strength lug casing and maximum tonal protection (MTP) cut to provide exceptional sound and resilience. An in-round 9-ply birch-ply and beech shell tunes clearer and provides a pure fundamental tone, while a 5.4mm steel tension rod provides easy, consistent tuning without adding unnecessary weight.

Each of the instruments in the 6300 Power-Lite Series has an array of optional accessories, such as battery packs, hardware cases, practice pads and drum keys, to suit every individual's particular needs.

The drums are now available at SRPs ranging from:
$410 to $1,068 for MS-6313W Snare Drums with carrier, stand and case options
$904 to $1,780 for 6300 Series Multi-Toms with carrier, stand and case options
$480 to $1,418 for 6300 Power-Lite Series Bass Drums with carrier, stand and case options
