The Readers Weigh In: DXR Loudspeakers Win the PAR Excellence Award

BUENA PARK, Calif. — This year, for the first time ever, subscribers of the magazine Pro Audio Review voted on the winners of the PAR Excellence Awards. In the very competitive Portable PA/Powered Speakers category, the Yamaha DXR series emerged with the most reader votes.

Editors and subscribers developed the list of nominees based on the "I want to own this" principle and "should have a proven field track record, performed well via PAR's 'real world' review process," according to the criteria.

"The readership of Pro Audio Review represent some of the most discerning and sophisticated audio aficionados in the world," said John Schauer, Product Manager, Live Sound, Yamaha Pro Audio & Combo Division. "For them to choose the DXR series affirms everything that we set out to do with the lineup."

PAR editor Strother Bullins reviewed two DXR8 loudspeakers and a DXS12 subwoofer, concluding that they are "the best portable PA 'tool' I've used in some time, even in a market of worthy loudspeaker options," adding that their "numbingly simple-to-apply built-in DSP just makes the sound better with almost every application." Another feature is their portability: "I alone can carry the DXS12 subwoofer for the average 'trunk-to-stage' load-in without breaking a pre-gig sweat. Sold!"

With the DXR powered loudspeaker series, great performing, high fidelity sound reinforcement has never been so affordable or easy to use. Offering high-end features in a convenient and economical package, the new speakers allow for mixing capabilities right on the back panel and innovative use of advanced DSP to provide extra protection for each component. In the DXR series, FIR-X™ tuning derived from Yamaha's DSR speaker line delivers excellent sound no matter the volume.

Bands, small combos, solo musicians, DJs, churches, schools and other individuals and organizations who require top-quality sound reinforcement will benefit from DXR and DXS quality, which offers the loudest SPL volume in its class. The speakers are so advanced that not only do they offer unique features like a Link function, they also provide DSP assisted EQ (Dynamic COUNTOUR) that tailors the frequency response when used as floor monitors.
