ANAHEIM, Calif. —Entering an entirely new market segment, Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division will debut the V Series Violin and Cello outfits at the 2013 NAMM Show. Ideal for beginning student string players, the brand new series features three violins and three cellos: V3SKA12, V3SKA34 and V3SKA44 violins and the VC3S12, VC3S34 and VC3S44 cellos in one-half, three-quarter and full sizes, respectively.

Yamaha anticipates strong demand among educators and students, as the V Series will become the most affordable violins and cellos in the Yamaha line of string instruments. The company likewise predicts popularity for use in retail rental programs.

The launch of these new products now enables Yamaha to compete in the vast student strings market segment at a significantly lower price point, while enhancing its brand recognition in this critical market.

"Yamaha's dedication to education has long been recognized by our dealers and school band directors. The V Series Violin outfit continues our track record of bringing quality instruments to our dealers, string educators and beginning violinists," said Ken Dattmore, Marketing Manager, Yamaha Orchestral Strings.

Yamaha includes a number of high-quality components in the V Series outfits, including: ebony pegs, D'Addario Prelude strings, composite tailpiece with 4 fine tuners, wood bow with ebony frog and sturdy shaped ABS plastic case. Shop adjusted to MENC specifications, the V Series outfits also feature Yamaha's Five-Year Limited Warranty, as well as the company's unmatched service.

"The components of the V Series Cello outfits were also chosen for their durability as well as their tonal qualities," said Dattmore. "Laminated backs and sides provide strength and durability under the toughest use. The solid carved spruce tops add enhanced tonal qualities for a great sound."

Slated for shipping in January 2013, the V3 Violin outfits start at MSRP $699 and the VC3 Cello outfits start at MSRP $1,795.
