Yamaha Debuts Mexican Banda Expansion Pack For Its PSR-S950 and PSR-S750 Keyboards

NASHVILLE — Yamaha today introduced a Mexican Banda Voice and Style Expansion Pack for its PSR-S950 and PSR-S750 keyboards at the 2013 Summer NAMM Show. The expansion features brand new Voices, recorded in a professional studio by the best musicians that play the genre. This new pack adds several features over a similar pack the company introduced in January 2013 for the PSR-S650, including new Voices, gritos, multi pads and remixed Styles, all of which take advantage of the advanced feature sets and sound systems of the PSR-S950 and PSR-S750 keyboards.

This package contains authentic Banda Voices, including Trombon, Trompeta, Clarinete, Charcheta, Tuba, Bateria-Tambora and a special Gritos Kit of vocal expressions. New Voice variations "Dinamico" and "Articulado" switch the articulation depending on how hard the keys are hit and add random tuning to the voice for a more natural sound, respectively. One of the main ingredients of Mexican music is Gritos, the fun, vocal exclamations that accompany the music. Four individual Gritos kits include male and female vocalizations, as well as "Gritos de Estados," which call out the names of each of the regions of Mexico.

It additionally includes 20 popular Banda Styles covering Acoustic Banda, Electric Banda and Duranguense. Each Style comes complete with four One Touch Settings that match these new instrument Voices to each of the four Style sections. Panel registrations, with special Banda and Duranguense keyboard splits and layers for playing with a band, are also included.

"By working closely with professional Banda musicians, we were able to capture more than the sounds, rhythms and "feel" of Banda," said Nate Tschetter, Yamaha Electronic Keyboard Product Manager. "Utilizing the advanced tone generation of the PSR-S750 and PSR-S950 lets us add even more expressive capabilities to this exciting pack."

This offering also has 96 multi pad banks with different horn phrases, drum accents and gritos that can be triggered as phrases or single notes in real time. New ensemble voices enable different combinations of Banda instruments to be played in unison, either as duets or a full band.

For a limited time, between July 1 and September 30, Yamaha will offer those who buy a PSR-S950, PSR-S750 or PSR-S650 keyboard can download the Mexican Banda pack for free at http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/awk/vse/
