Pennsylvania Student Wins Yamaha Package from Music & Arts

With just one photo, a local middle school student won $10,000 in instruments for his school’s music program. Kevin Gardner, an eighth grade student at Strath Haven Middle School, submitted a photo of himself playing a trumpet to Music & Arts’ Share Your Passion contest. A panel of judges selected his entry as the grand prize winner, and led to a donation of Yamaha instruments for him and his fellow student musicians.

To celebrate both Music In Our Schools Month and the company’s 60th anniversary, Music & Arts invited students to share a photo and brief description that represents their passion for music. Kevin’s winning submission was awarded the grand prize: $2,000 towards a Yamaha instrument, an entire year of lessons from Music & Arts, and $10,000 in Yamaha instruments. In addition to replacing older instruments, these funds will be allocated to students who have financial challenges at home and aren’t able to afford or rent an instrument. Kevin chose to receive a Yamaha student flugelhorn.
