Yamaha JOC Concert Showcases Three Accomplished Young Pianists Performing Original Music

ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) – The Yamaha Music Education System will present inspiring performances by three exceptional young composers during this year's annual Junior Original Concert at the 2016 NAMM Show, the largest musical instrument convention in North America. Junior Original Concerts showcase the work of students at Yamaha Music Schools from across the country who perform their original compositions.

The free concert will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday January 21, 2016 in the Keyboard area of the Yamaha booth, located in the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, Marquis Ballroom. All NAMM badge-holders are invited to attend.

Pianist Rebecca Liu, age 11, a student at Irvine Yamaha Music Center, Irvine, California, will perform her composition Jumping with Rabbits accompanied by Brian Walsh on clarinet and Randy Landas on bass. Rebecca performed at the 2015 U.S. National Junior Original Concert and received first place in the 2013 Composers Today State Contest and 2014 Music Teachers National Association Elementary Composition Competition.

Ty Promreuk, age 13, who studies at East Valley Yamaha Music School, Chandler, Arizona, will perform her composition Shadowfire accompanied by Joanna Lee on violin and Peter Myers on cello. Inspired by the image of a flickering candle in a dark room, Shadowfire contains all the drama of a Tango. Ty performed this composition at the 2015 U.S. National Junior Original Concert held in Cerritos, California.

Angela Lopez, age 15, a student at Bergen Yamaha Music School, Paramus, New Jersey, will perform her composition Metro Gnome accompanied by Mike Cottone on flugelhorn, Randy Landas on bass and M.B.
