BUENA PARK, Calif. (August 30, 2016) – Yamaha today introduced the R-N402 MusicCast enabled Hi-Fi network receiver that combines the simplicity of wireless connectivity with the sophistication of MusicCast multiroom streaming and high-resolution audio.

The elegantly styled receiver brings together the legendary Yamaha craftsmanship that has led the Hi-Fi movement for more than a half-century with the freedom of multiroom music streaming from high-resolution audio sources, music services and smart devices at an affordable price.

"The R-N402 Hi-Fi network receiver redefines the Hi-Fi experience through the addition of our state-of-the-art MusicCast wireless multiroom audio system," said Bob Goedken, general manager, AV division, Yamaha Corporation of America. "This ground breaking experience bridges the simplicity and sophistication of Hi-Fi listening with the exciting lifestyle enhancements provided by Bluetooth®, Apple® AirPlay® and MusicCast wireless multiroom audio technologies."

Simply put, the 100 W-per-channel R-N402 will connect with a wide range of analog and digital sources to bring rich, clearly defined sound to demanding music fans, and then allow wireless playback with other devices around the home. The Hi-Fi network receiver can wirelessly stream music services such as Pandora®, Spotify, Rhapsody®, Napster, SiriusXM Internet Radio and vTuner, all seamlessly controlled by the free MusicCast app for iOS or Android™ smartphones and tablets. The R-N402 also can be easily linked to other MusicCast enabled speakers, AV receivers and Hi-Fi gear in other rooms, to enjoy music throughout the home.

40 presets can be set for favorite FM stations and an additional 40 memory presets for network music stations which can be programmed for handy, quick access. With Bluetooth connectivity, the user can stream content from a mobile device or listen to content on Bluetooth enabled devices like headphones. AirPlay compatibility, USB ports and DLNA® allows for easy access to stored digital music libraries on PCs, network attached storage devices and USB flash drives.

The R-N402 also supports playback of the latest high-resolution audio files – DSD 5.6 MHz, AIFF 192 kHz/24 bit, FLAC 192 kHz/24 bit, Apple Lossless 96 kHz/24 bit, WAV 192 kHz/24 bit – making this Hi-Fi receiver an extremely versatile audio component.

The R-N402 continues the simple yet elegant design style for which Yamaha Hi-Fi audio components are known. The elegant brushed finish on the black aluminum faceplate and the logically placed operating buttons and volume knobs accent the look of the receiver to keep operation simple and the aesthetic sophisticated.

For flexibility of use, the R-N402 is equipped with both optical and coaxial digital inputs to keep signals in the digital domain when connecting a CD player for stereo music enjoyment. In addition, traditional analog inputs are provided to support many legacy devices.
