Yamaha YSP-2700 Sound Bar Wins Prestigious ‘Good Design Award'

MusicCast Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer

BUENA PARK, Calif. (October 31, 2016) – Yamaha Corporation of America, AV division today announced that the Yamaha YSP-2700 sound bar with MusicCast wireless multiroom audio capability is among seven of the company's newest products to receive Good Design Awards, one of the most prestigious product recognition programs of its kind.

The award brings further validation to the continued innovation and craftsmanship that enabled Yamaha to create this elegantly styled and authentic sounding sound bar.

The Yamaha YSP-2700 MusicCast sound bar with wireless subwoofer was selected during a rigorous five-month screening process involving 76 international jury members.

Unusual in this product category, the high-performing sound bar draws its true 7.1-channel capability from Yamaha Digital Sound Projector technology. This unique sound bar utilizes 16 speakers, each powered by a separate amplifier, to produce discrete sound beams that reflect off the walls of a room to envelope the listener from multiple directions. The sound bar is engineered to present dynamic presence, clarity and detail. The YSP-2700 also comes with a wireless subwoofer that adds heart-thumping bass and rumble.

Inclusion of the Yamaha MusicCast wireless multiroom audio system means the sound bar can stream music or TV sound to other MusicCast products throughout the home. The MusicCast family includes 37 models, including wireless speakers, sound bars, AV receivers and Hi-Fi gear. An easy-to-use MusicCast app on a smartphone or tablet allows users to access personal song collections or popular streaming music services.

The Good Design Awards were established based on the belief that good design is essential to people's everyday lives. The primary factor for award selection is whether the product can enrich society and people's lives.

"It's a big challenge to design an attractive sound bar that is thin enough to fit in front of a TV while also delivering amazing sound quality. It requires a perfect marriage of aesthetics and engineering," said Bob Goedken, general manager, AV division, Yamaha Corporation of America. "We are honored that Yamaha is being recognized for great design in sound bars."

Other Yamaha products earning Good Design Awards this year include: the NS-5000 Hi-Fi speakers, MA/PA, VXS and VXC series speakers; the Yamaha YEV Electric Violin Series; the "Omotenashi Guide," a universal sound support system (which earned the organization's 2016 "Best 100" distinction); the YRS/YRA/YRSA line of plant based plastic recorders and a power-assisted wheelchair that performs music, jointly developed by Yamaha and Yamaha Motor Corporation. Since 1957, Yamaha products have earned 273 awards from the Good Design Awards.
