Yamaha Welcomes Versatile Drummer Corey Rawls to Company’s Legendary Artist Roster
BUENA PARK, Calif. (August 06, 2019) ―
Yamaha Drums today announced the signing of Corey Rawls to the company's artist roster.
From Atlanta to New York City, Corey Rawls is regarded as one of the most highly recommended jazz drummers and educators. After graduating from Rutgers Gross School of Music with a master's degree in jazz studies, Rawls played with many prestigious musicians such as Kenny Garrett, Bill Evans, Mark Whitfield and Victor Bailey. Currently, Rawls is balancing his career as the principal drummer for the off-Broadway show "The Secret Life of Bees" and recording and performing with the Mark Gross Quintet and The Horne Electric Band, among an extensive list of other New York-based artists. In addition to performing, Rawls continues to advocate music education by teaching master classes and clinics with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) and teaching weekly private lessons. Rawls also played a foundational role in teaching for the Salvation Army Phil Ramone Orchestra for Children in East Harlem, New York for three years.
Rawls has become an integral part of the incredibly talented New York jazz, funk, rock, R&B, and hip-hop scene, and can be heard weekly performing at various New York City music venues. He chooses the Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple drum kit in Red Autumn finish along with the 800 Series hardware to match his versatile style.
"Yamaha Drums has always fit the style of music I am playing in every line they offer!" said Rawls. "I am so happy to be a part of this dedicated family as I continue to grow my career."
