Billy Corgan Signature Model
Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins are the voice of a generation, and a truly unique one at that… both musically and stylistically. When he decides to partner with a company and release an instrument that bears his name, you know it’s going to be a unique and authentic choice with a very high standard in quality.
Billy Corgan chose the handcrafted LJ16 A.R.E. as the foundation for his signature model. The LJ shape is the Yamaha version of a medium-jumbo, and often referred to as the players' choice for its wide dynamic range, strong low-end presence and crisp tone. And of course, every L Series features the A.R.E. (acoustic resonance enhancement) solid Engelmann spruce tops, for that mature worn-in, warm sound. A few sonic changes were made during design at Mr. Corgan’s request -- a slight emphasis on the upper-mid harmonic frequencies creating a better listening experience for the audience and a bit more detailing in the low-mid range to help round out the balance to complement his playing style. Other personalized Billy touches are brass bridge pins, TUSQ nut and saddle, GOTOH open-gear tuners and a unique “Zero” head stock logo.
