From following the lights on a Yamaha keyboard to learning note-reading, technique and basic music theory, the Music DeLights® program allows for full customization of the teaching and playing experience. Anyone can benefit from the program and tailor it to the needs of their class. This music experience allows individuals to play at their own level.
Inviting caregivers to participate in Music DeLights provides them with an opportunity to interact with others on a very different level, not to mention the fun and satisfaction they experience.
Leveraging industry-exclusive music technology, this is the first group program to use the lighted keys of Yamaha EZ-220 portable keyboards to empower virtually anyone to experience the joy of making music – instantly and effortlessly – simply by following the lights.
Music DeLights represents the culmination of the company’s decades-long leadership in promoting the benefits of music making, available in its most portable, affordable and interactive package yet. The program levels the playing field for all, offering students effortless and immediate musical success.
The program can be customized for use in a wide range of facilities, including senior living centers, memory care centers, music and wellness therapy programs, and community education.
Participants can experience playing music by following the lights on Yamaha EZ-220 keyboards. The songs are often well-known favorites, and they can have up to four independent parts due to a special iConnect MIDI box for ensemble playing. Each group of four students can play their own part (i.e. strings, bells, piano, brass).
The system can be configured using four, eight, 12 or 16 EZ-220 keyboards plus a CVP-705 Clavinova. The system includes keyboards, course materials, MIDI box(es), table(s), a Clavimover, USB MIDI cables, power adapters and video instructions.
The CVP connects via MIDI OUT to the iConnect box MIDI IN and USB to the EZ-220 keyboards. The keyboards are bolted to a moveable, fold-up table (four per table) for easy storage and setup (power and one USB cable). The CVP is on a Clavimover for easy moving and storage.
"There are lots of advantages to using Music Delights … this is the only way I'd be able to access a whole group of eight people at one time. And I'm able to see what they're doing, I'm able to hear what they're doing and we have these accompaniments underneath them that make them feel like they're playing with a symphony."
– Lindsey Zehren, Song Leader & Director of Special Projects at Resounding Joy
"Music DeLights by Yamaha was originally designed for senior independent living or assisted living facilities. But when we started going to other conferences and showing this program to music therapists, they got really excited about how this program could relate to their clients in multiple situations. That's when we started to decide this could be a program for pretty much anybody, and I think the audience is going to grow immensely. The emotional engagement and the level of activity that people get from making music in a group setting is enormous."
– Debbie Skinner, Developer & Program Director for Yamaha Music DeLights
