Based on our acoustic saxophones, the familiar key layout makes it easy for experienced saxophonists to feel right at home. You can also customize the finger layout through the dedicated YDS Controller app.
BRASS BELL
Crafted from the same high-quality brass used in our acoustic saxophones, the YDS-152's bell draws on decades of acoustic instrument expertise to deliver rich, natural resonance. BREATH SENSOR
The breath sensor detects the strength (pressure) of your breath, allowing you to control not only the strength, but also the tone of your sound as you play.

To capture the authentic character of an acoustic saxophone, we worked with professional musicians to meticulously sample Yamaha soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones across their full tonal ranges. The result is a rich, natural sound that responds beautifully to your playing.

What are the differences between the YDS-152 and YDS-150?
The main differences are the number of voices and the USB TO HOST terminal. The YDS-152 offers 87 voices, including additional non-saxophone instrument sounds. The USB TO HOST terminal has also been updated from micro-USB Type-B to USB Type-C.
What are the differences between the YDS-152 and YDS-122?
The main differences are the playing feel and the way the instrument connects to the YDS Controller app.
The YDS-152 features Yamaha's Integrated Bell Acoustic System with a yellow brass bell. Sound and vibration resonate throughout the instrument, providing a playing experience and sense of unity similar to an acoustic saxophone.
The YDS-122 uses a lightweight bell with a simple horn-type acoustic mechanism, making it more accessible and easy to handle.
The YDS-152 supports a Bluetooth MIDI connection to the YDS Controller app, while the YDS-122 requires a USB connection.
How should I clean and care for the instrument?
Wipe the bell and keys with a dry, soft cloth.
To clean the mouthpiece, remove the mouthpiece, reed, and ligature from the instrument, and use a cleaning swab to remove moisture and dirt. The dedicated mouthpiece and synthetic reed can be washed with water.
Moisture left inside the neck may cause the instrument to malfunction. Remove any moisture with a thin cotton swab or similar item.
Do not insert cotton swabs or other objects into the tube inside the instrument. After playing, leave the instrument in a well-ventilated place for a while to allow the tube inside the body to dry.
Can I connect the instrument to an external speaker?
Yes. Use an analog audio cable to connect the PHONES jack on the instrument to a powered speaker designed for musical instruments.
